Kitchen Cleaning Tips
Washing Dishes by Hand
Its not a complex task to wash dishes in the sink however it can be tedious. Use hot water and good quality dish washing liquid. Wearing rubber gloves protects your hands and allows you to use hotter water which makes the dishes clean easier. Wash the less soiled dishes first e.g glasses and cutlery, followed by the plates then lastly the pots and pans. Rinse the dishes with fresh water before drying.
Cleaning Kitchen Worktops
The kitchen worktop has a practical purpose and must be kept scrupulously clean. After every use, wipe down work surfaces using a cloth with some washing up detergent or kitchen cleaner. Finish off with an anti-bacterial spray.
Laminate - use a cream cleaner or make up a paste of bicarbonate of soda and a few drops of bleach to clean stubborn stains.
Solid Wood - rub with a cloth and some washing up liquid. Dont let food spills such as tomato or curry sauce sit on the surface too long as they will cause staining. Regular oiling is required to prevent the wood soaking up water.
Ceramic tiles - clean grouting with a solution of one part bleach to four parts water and using an old toothbrush to scrub between the tiles. Use an all purpose kitchen cleaner for any surface stains.
Stainless steel - use a microfibre cloth to remove fingermarks, avoid abrasive materials which could scratch the surface.
Granite - this is the most hardwearing of kitchen surfaces. Wipe with a cloth using some washing up liquid or kitchen cleaner. Be careful not to use any abrasive materials so as not to scratch the surface.
