A Tidy Desk can be a Dust Free Desk

Cleaning office desks isnt always done by the daily office cleaner. Believe it or not this can actually upset some office staff, who consider their desks to be quite a sacred area. The fact is, some of us can be very untidy workers and prefer it that way. You know where everything is, right? However, dust causes irritation to the eyes, lungs and skin, especially to those with allergies. Dust creates an unsightly appearance on surfaces and ultimately translates into an uncaring image. Dusting is vital to create a positive and pleasing appearance to the office and should be done once or twice per week. Encourage neatness and better work habits in the office. Allow the cleaner to dust your desk at least one day a week. Its a good idea to insist that office staff clear their desks of paperwork once a week to allow this to happen. A tidy desk is a clean desk.

The Importance of Empty Bins in your Office

Have you ever walked into an office on a morning when the waste bins have not been emptied from the previous day? You unlock the door, open it, only to be welcomed by the stench of stale leftover food. You remember some of the staff bringing in burgers and chips the day before and you glance over at the bins to confirm the sight of some french fry containers and paper bags which most probably contain rotting leftovers. Putting that sign up on the wall warning staff not to leave food in the bins seems to have had no effect .... Open the windows, grab a fresh black bag, empty the overflowing bins into the bag, trying not to breath until black bag is tied up securely. Follow this by placing a new white bin liner into each bin. Maybe its time to employ that office cleaner.....

Keeping your Office Carpets Clean

From one day to the next, general everyday traffic will cause constant wear and tear on office carpets as soil and grit is trodden deep into the carpet fibres. To prevent your office carpets from becoming dull and lifeless, carpets should be vacuumed on a daily basis to avoid dust and dirt from becoming deeply ground in. With most office carpets being low profile, many businesses having carpet tiles for easy maintenance. After vacuuming, carpet tiles can be damp mopped which can keep them looking bright and fresh.

Offices can also benefit from having their carpets cleaned on a 3 to 6 monthly basis using a low moisture system such as bonnet buffing. In a busy office environment, its important to carry out office cleaning out of hours to avoid as much disruption as possible to office staff and visitors. Bonnet buffing is a simple and effective method to remove surface dirt quickly and easily without soaking the carpet. Because this method does not overwet the carpet fibres, the carpet is normally completely dry within a couple of hours.
